  • Making dresses with this epic cat fabric!!!!!
-
I found @fabricworm years ago and they are in California! Supporting small biz AND local for the win!!!!!
-
More pics of the dress making coming later!!!!
-
Fabric is called:
Ruby Star Society, Rayon 2019, Magic Cat Teal
  • Eyes and hair are done!
-
Swipe to last pic for close up of the eyeπŸ‘€.
-
I added a green and a gold floss to her iris, for depth.
-
It’s almost the weekend and today I’ll be working on new doll dresses!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
  • Iris embroidery!!!
-
After I outline the iris I embroider the strands as if they were the fibers of the iris so they sort of beam out like the rays of the sun.
-
I really like this effect and hope I can maintain it as my fingers get quite sore after finishing these eyes.
-
After I finish the eyes I sew on the wig cap. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
  • This is how I embroider the iris. I go around the outside first.
-
This helps it to keep its shape.
-
One can just do a circle and satin stitch the whole thing as I’ve done with the white reflective parts.
-
I used to embroider the pupil black but when I added the iris color it just got too difficult to get the needle through all that floss and fabric.
  • And another doll is under way.
-
Happy Monday!!!
-
My daughter goes to a Waldorf school and it’s her teacher’s birthday this week...
-
Any suggestions for a gift?
-
Eye detail video coming soon.
  • She’s done!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
-
I’m getting ready to start the embroidery on another doll and will be taking video of that. Hopefully I’ll have that ready to post soon.
-
Who is local to LA? How far would you travel for an in person workshop?
-
Would you prefer a live workshop online?
-
Have an incredible Saturday!!! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŒˆ
  • Gonna start embroidery on this beauty soon. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
-
Her eye whites and her pupil are both painted. I used textile paints to prevent flaking over time.
-
I will outline the white reflective parts of the eyes first. I’ll use a back stitch and white floss. I use the Satin stitch to fill those in horizontally.
-
Then the iris will get color. I outline this as well in the base color, then embroidery from the pupil out to the outer edge to mimic the fibers in real eyes. I’ll leave a bit of room for a complimentary color.
-
For extra wow factor I add a bit of satin floss or metallic gold, pink, or silver floss or thread.
-
Stay tuned to watch all these steps in action.
  • Another dolly is almost ready for her photo shoot. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Do your kid’s schools have holiday markets?
-
We are going to my daughter’s school tomorrow for their annual Owl & Fox market.
-
It’s such a nice way to support the school and local artisans at the same time.
-
It’s also the best place to find unique holiday gifts. Last year it was epic. We found these amazing wooden bows and arrows with felt ball tips.
-
And so many incredible Waldorf dolls too. 🀩πŸ₯°πŸ€©
  • The sun is shining today so my pictures are nice and bright!!! πŸ€©πŸŽ‰
